All About Mel

Hello and welcome to Java Mel's. I'm Mel.

I have been a stay-at-home mom of 4 boys since 1999 until just recently. While staying at home with my babies has been the greatest joy of my life it was necessary for me to go back to work in the real world again (I have to say that working outside the home is so very overrated LOL). But my babies aren't such babies anymore and I felt I could get back into the working world again.

Over the years I've had a few businesses that I loved and enjoyed. I started out as a Nail Tech in 1989 and owned a nail salon for over 10 years in FL. During that time I also manufactured my own line of bath and body products. While I absolutely loved my work we (my husband and I) decided it was time for me to be home with the kids since baby #3 was on his way into this world.

In 1999 we moved to NC from FL. We love it here in NC. Since we've been here in NC I've owned a rubberstamp business (Rubbertree Enterprises) and a chocolate business (The Chocolate Works & More!!). And I am now back into the stamp business in more ways than one.

I am involved in many different activities and crafts. Among these are: Making chocolates. Coffees & Teas. Making bath and body products (although I do not have time to do this any longer I do make my services available to those who are interested in learning the art of making various bath and body products). Reading everything I can get my hands on (all non-fiction on a variety of subjects). Herbal medicine. Rubber Art Stamping. Scrapbooking. And I know I'm leaving some things out. But as you can see I stay very busy. But I always have time for a cup of coffee with a friend. And always have chocolate to share. :o)

While The Chocolate Works is closed now, you can still visit our old site to see the wonderful products we used to sell at www.thechocolateworks.com . Yes, I'm having a difficult time letting go of the site and business. LOL And am still offering SOME of our products to our regular customers.

I spent the last year or so as an Independent Demonstrator with TAC (The Angel Company). However, my life is changing directions and so is TAC so I have resigned my angel wings and am now putting all of my focus into my stamp company, Elemental Doodles. :-)

In March 2009 I launched Elemental Doodles along with my dear friend, Kim Baker. Elemental Doodles is a clear stamp company with its own exclusive images and many new and exclusive products coming soon. For more information on Elemental Doodles please visit those pages found in the Stamping Cafe. I now serve Elemental Doodles as Co-Owner/Mad Scientist/Artist/Designer/and many other titles for ED. LOL

In addition to all these things that I've been involved in, I also went back to school to earn my degree in Cardiovascular Ultrasound. I worked briefly in the field around 1998.
