Fun Facts About Coffee Espresso has 1/3 of the caffeine of a regular cup of coffee. The first European coffee house was opened in 1645 in Italy. Hawaiian Kona coffee is one of the most sought after coffees in the world....it's also one of the most expensive coffees in the world. Coffee "beans" are actually BERRIES!! In 1670 the first American coffee trader, Dorothy Jones, was granted a license to sell coffee. It is custom in Greece that the eldest is the first to be served coffee. It is eSpresso ....NOT eXpresso.....get it straight.  Dark roasted coffee has LESS caffeine than medium and light roasted coffee.  The longer a coffee is roasted the less caffeine it contains as it is burned off during the process. Coffee has more cancer fighters than tea. Sprinkle used coffee grounds around the base of garden plants....it stops snails and slugs from having a feast. A coffee tree has a life span of about 50-70 years.
